| Notes: | The Paris folio edition (1751-1772) consisted of 17 volumes of text, issued from 1751 to 1765; the last ten volumes (volumes 8-17), appeared simultaneously under the false imprint of Neuchâtel in 1765). Also included were 11 volumes of plates issued from 1762 to 1772. The Supplément, comprising 4 folio volumes of text and one of plates, published in Paris and Amsterdam in 1776 and 1777, and the 2-volume Table analytique of 1780 had no formal connection with the original Encyclopé́́́die, and involved a new group of contributors and publishers; see Robert Darnton, The business of Enlightenment: a publishing history of the Encyclopé́́́die 1775-1800 (Cambridge, Mass.: Harvard Univ.
