Abstract:
A psychoanalytical study of antisemitism, especially among Christians and Muslims. Argues that antisemitism is a symptom of attempts to prevent the repressed from coming to the surface. Views both religious Muslim antisemitism and the hatred of Israel today as expressions of the Muslim quest for a fixed and complete identity. The Jews, defined by transmission and a flawed identity, threaten those who cannot bear narcissistic pain. Deals with modern day antisemitism in France.
