Abstract:

"The nests built by social insects are among the most complex artifacts built by living organisms. In the course of evolution, a whole set of innovations have endowed these architectures with adaptive designs ensuring the control of temperature and humidity, the gas exchanges with the environment and the protection against predators and parasites. This workshop aims at understanding the construction principles that makes possible the emergence of these architectural designs. It is also intended to examine how these principles could be used in the context of current research in architecture and design."--
