Abstract:

Collection consists of 328 separate recordings, on various or multiple formats.

Footage includes events such as concerts at Orchestra Hall, a concert at the Century of Progress International Exposition, Chicago (1933-1934), and other concerts, rehearsals, features, interviews, and receptions. The earliest film footage of the orchestra was taken by Clarence Evans (orchestra violist, 1920-1947), including a few outdoor concerts (1934-1940), with conductors Frederick Stock and Eric DeLamarter. Also includes public service announcements, television news clips, and general raw footage for various purposes. The majority of the recordings feature the orchestras last two music directors, Sir Georg Solti and Daniel Barenboim. Some footage also features members of the orchestra, guest conductors, and guest artists.
