Abstract:

Les produits de contraste ultrasonore ont considérablement fait évoluer la pratique de l'imagerie échographique. Composés de microbulles de gaz, capables de circuler dans le sang, ils ont facilité la visualisation de la perfusion tissulaire et le diagnostic de tumeurs cancéreuses. L'efficacité d'un agent de contraste se définit par sa capacité à rehausser le signal ultrasonore. La lecture de ce signal a nécessité la mise en place de séquences d'imagerie spécifiques, lesquelles exploitent les composantes non linéaires émises par les microbulles, et plus particulièrement le second harmonique. Néanmoins, l'exploitation du second harmonique pâtit de la propagation non linéaire des ultrasons dans les tissus, réduisant ainsi la discrimination entre les tissus et les zones pathologiques. Depuis quelques années, différents groupes de recherche tentent d'isoler d'autres harmoniques. La composante sous-harmonique apparaît comme une alternative intéressante et offrent de nombreux avantages : parmi ceux-ci, notons tout particulièrement la moindre atténuation du signal et l'absence de génération de composantes sous-harmoniques par propagation non linéaire.
