Describes what baseball was like in the early days, 50 to 70 years ago, as told by the players themselves through personal narratives.

This new enlarged editon contains the complete text and all the photographs that were in the original book, published in 1966, plus for the first time the first-person stories of four additional major-league players- George Gibson, Babe Herman, Specs Toporcer, and Hall of Fame Hank Greenberg.-- Preface to the Enlarged Edtion.
