Abstract:

Memoirs of a Jewish woman who was born in Kraków in 1930. Describes her life in the Kraków ghetto until June 1942, when her parents, younger brother, aunt, and uncle were deported. Her older brother, Joseph, then smuggled her out of the ghetto via the sewer. She survived the rest of the war in the countryside, pretending to be a Polish orphan and working for farmers' families. At the end of the war she returned to Kraków, where she was reunited with Joseph, the only other survivor of the family, who had been in the Płaszów labor camp; the two emigrated to Great Britain.
