Abstract:

This series was filmed and researched over a four year period in more than 18 nations on four continents. It chronicles over 3,000 years of Jewish history in the context of other Western religious artifacts, historical sites, and primary literary sources to tell this story of Western Civilization and the Jewish people in it. Programs will include: landscape and archaeological artifacts, sites and reconstructions in the Middle East and the great remains of the classical world; the manuscripts and art which preceded the printed word; the painting sculpture, prints, lithographs, etchings and architecture of later centuries; photographic stills which begin to appear in the 19th century; and black and white film footage from the 20th century.
