While in jail for refusing to stop preaching the word of God, John Bunyan intensified his belief and faith. William Cowper, a man afflicted with serious depression, maintained his faith in God despite his psychological torment. David Brainerd, a minister to communities living in the wilderness, strengthened his faith in God despite the loneliness of his job and the tuberculosis that killed him.
