Abstract:

Accountant and media executive H. Melvin Ming was born on August 22, 1944 in Pembroke, Bermuda. Ming graduated with his B.A. degree from Temple University in 1967. Ming began his career as a certified public accountant, working for the accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. From 1983 to 1984, Ming served as vice president of finance and administration for National Public Radio in Washington, D.C. He later worked as the chief financial officer and chief administrative officer at WNET-TV in New York and as the chief operating officer for WQED in Pittsburgh. In 1997, Ming became the chief financial officer for the Museum of Television and Radio in New York, serving until 1999. That year, he became chief financial officer for the Sesame Workshop. In 2002, Ming was promoted to chief operating officer for the Sesame Workshop. He served on several boards, including as trustee of Regional Conferences Retirement Board.
