Abstract:

Corporate executive W. Frank Fountain, Jr. was born on July, 17, 1944, in Brewton, Alabama, and grew up on a small farm in Tunnel Springs, Alabama. He earned his B.A. degree in history and political science from Hampton University in 1966. After graduation, he volunteered for the Peace Corps in West Bengal, India. In 1973, Fountain received his M.B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania and accepted the position of investment analyst at Chrysler Corporation. He rose through the ranks at Chrysler, until he was appointed vice president for government affairs in 1995. In 1998, Fountain became the senior vice president for government affairs and president of the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund. He served on the boards of a number of civic, educational, and international development organizations. In 2007, Fountain became an independent director at DTE Energy Company. He received many awards and honors for his work, including an honorary D.P.S. degree from Central Michigan University.
