Masterful writing about frienship.

Lena and Marie are unlikely friends. One is black and wealthy, one is poor and white. Both have lost their mothers. Their friendship grows and Lena shares her secret with Marie. Her father is abusing her. Woodson is a masterful writer. You will feel the heartache and compassion the girls share.
