Abstract:

Examines the influence of Nazism on medical training in Germany. Pp. 32-41 survey student demands for a numerus clausus against Jewish students (especially those from Eastern Europe) during the Weimar period; these demands were generally rejected by the faculty. Immediately after their accession, the Nazis passed a numerus clausus law; many medical schools rejected new Jewish students altogether. At the end of 1933, the granting of degrees to Jews was severely restricted. In April 1935 Jewish students, including half-Jews, were officially excluded from all university studies.
