Japan : its history and culture is a good read for those interested in this island nation. It starts out very rich and detailed at the beginning and middle when discussing the Early and Middle stages of Japanese history but feels somewhat rushed in the Modern/Information age of Japans history. Would definitely recommend for a school project, or anything needing to cover Japanese history.
