Abstract:

Correspondence from John W. Knevels to John Torrey, dated April 7, 1836. "Thinking it may be interesting to you, I beg leave to mention that a large specimen of Cycas Revoluta in my collection has thrown out a mass of transmogrified fronds bearing the embryo fruit of the plant." Knevels goes on to explain that normally he would bring the cycad down to New York to exhibit it, but that "would not be prudent "given the season. He instead extends an invitation to Torrey to visit Newburgh to view the plant, and to bring along any other botanists he might wish.
