Abstract:
There are many styles of kimonos for different occasions, ages, and public and private settings. The way a woman wears a kimono, with the accessories, the type of fabric, the sleeve length and the tie of obi, can distinguish whether she is young or old, married or single, or attending a formal or informal gathering. This Japanese kimono from 1950 would have been worn for a semi-formal occasion, such as a tea gathering or concert.
