Abstract:
Volumes 3 and 4, ʹEcole Centrale notebooks, are for 1e Annʹee d'Etudes, 1853-1854, and include 68 lectures of the Cours de Chimie Gʹenʹerale, with Prof. Cahours. Volume 3 contains lectures ("leçon") 1-40, with lectures 41-68 in volume 4. Cahours signed these notebooks during the academic year.
Volume 5, with ʹEcole Centrale written on the first page, begins with "Travail des vacances de 1re Annʹee" and "Travail des vacancess de 2e Annʹee" and includes descriptions or reports of visits to factories and mills, during the vacation of the second year.
Volume 6, another ʹEcole Centrale notebook, has notes for Cours de Manipulations Chimique with MM. Lelong and Le Blanc. The first part contains 22 "manipulations" while the second part has Physics manipulations. These span three years, 1853-1856, and 14 experiments. These are signed, occasionally, by Lelong and Le Blanc.
Volume 7, Cahier de chimie, Saint Louis 1851, is attributed to the ʹEcole Centrale series of lecture notes, as the second section of this volume is headed: Des matières alimentaires et des moyens de reconnaitre leur falsification; De la salubritʹe des maisons et des localitiʹes. Cours de M. Payen. Annʹee 1853. Notes are neither numbered nor signed by Payen, but see Volume 8 for Payen and ʹEcole Centrale.
Volume 8, the last ʹEcole Centrale notebook, is for the Annʹee 1854-1855, 2e Annʹee d' Etudes and includes notes on Cours de Chimie Industrielle, Prof. Payen. This has 35 lectures.
