The three essays on pp. 55-74 discuss the case of Arnaldo Momigliano, a Jewish Italian scientist and a fascist, who fell victim to the Racial Laws of 1938. On pp. 93-97, "Gli equivoci dell'antisemitismo, " explains the differences between the terms antisemitism, judeophobia, and banal hostility. The three essays on pp. 119-133 discuss the attitude of the Catholic Church during the Holocaust, the views of John Paul II, the Carmelite convent at Auschwitz, and the canonization of Edith Stein. Pp. 135-139, "La conquista del passato, " warn against disconnecting the Holocaust from its historical context and against imposing collective guilt on the Germans.
