[1] 1841, December 1, London, to Francis Ross [ALS., 1 l.].--Postpones a visit to Hampton Court. [2] 1842, February 4, Boston, to Richard Dana [ALS. facsimile, 1 l.]. Positive photostat of Dickens to Dana, Feb. 4, 1842, and Dana to Dickens, Feb. 3, 1842. [3] 1842, February 4, Boston, to Richard Dana [ALS. facsimile, 1 l.]. Typescript filed with negative photostat.--Thanks Dana for note and for copy of Bryant's poems. Values his friendship highly. [4] 1845, August 23, London, to Mrs. McIan [ALS. facsimile, 4 p.]. Typescript filed with negative photostat.--Reports trip to Whitelands to persuade authorities that Canterbury School would be best for Esther. Got promise they would consider his suggestion. [5] 1846, March 12, London, to Stanny [ALS., 1 l.].--He is sorry if he has offended Stanny's creed in his writing.

[6] 1851, November 3, Kent, England, to Alexandre Dumas [ALS. facsimile, 3 p.]. Negative photostat. Second and third leaves of positive photostat filed with negative. Typescripts (one in original French and one an English translation) filed with photostats.--Will not return to London until December. Will then serve as Dumas's guide; invites him to dine every day. Dumas's protegee will learn nothing about acting in London. [7] 1858, July 13, London, to Dr. Hord [AMsS.]. Part of an envelope. [8] 1868, August 25, Higham, England, to Mr. Adams [AL., 1 l.].--He does not think he will see Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. [9] 1869, May 31, to William F. De Morgan [ALS., 1 l.].--Tells him that Forster states in his Life of Landor that a character had been taken from him.
