Abstract:

Thirty-seven letters addressed to Thiebault-Sisson in his capacity as art critic for the journal "Le Temps." Most of the letters express appreciation for positive reviews and mention briefly work in progress. Correspondents include J.F. Raffaelli (1894, 1915), J.C. Cazin (1895), Puvis de Chavannes (1896-1897), J.P. Laurens (n.d.), Walter Crane (1894), Alfred Roll (1895), Paul Signac (n.d.), Albert Besnard (n.d.), Jules Desbois (1916), Antoine Bourdelle (1916, 1920) and Ignacio Zuloaga (1917). There are nine additional letters: six addressed to other writers at "Le Temps," from, among others, J.L. Gerome (n.d.), F.L. Francais (1875), and Jules Breton (1895); and three addressed to Albert Thiebault-Sisson (1918-1920). The collection also contains printed materials, including newspaper clippings and an exhibition catalogue of Adolphe Willette (1916).
