Abstract:

In a dystopian near future, all single people are checked into The Hotel where they must find a mate in 45 days, lest they be turned into an animal of their choosing. Soon after checking into The Hotel, David (Colin Farrell) encounters a group of escaped Loners living in the surrounding wilderness. In this group is a short-sighted woman (Rachel Weisz) with whom he begins an illicit affair on the outskirts of society. A dark and absurdist satire on the cultural mores and societal pressures of courtship, THE LOBSTER is another compelling work from director Yorgos Lanthimos (Dogtooth) that is sure to both enlighten and amuse.
