The Lover, written in imitation of the Tatler, was produced by Sir Richard Steele (under the pseudonym of Marmaduke Myrtle, gent.)--assisted by Joseph Addison. 40 nos. were issued, Feb. 25-May 27, 1714; the Reader, also by Steele, consisted of 9 nos., and was issued from Apr. 22-May 10, 1714; the Whig-examiner, by Joseph Addison, appeared from Sept. 14-Oct. 12, 1710, nos. 1-5; the Medley was edited by Arthur Maynwaring and John Oldmixon.
