Abstract:
This extensive collection of radio theater scripts includes 132 bound volumes, spanning the 1930s - the 1950s. The scripts, with stage directions, cover a variety of genres ranging from comedy and drama to Westerns, mysteries and romance. The productions are adaptations of novels, plays, and Hollywood movies.
Titles in the collection include "A Farewell to Arms," "The Farmer's Daughter," "Casablanca," and " Abe Lincoln in Illinois." The roles were often played by the stars of the movie version. The players who figure prominently in this collection include Bette Davis, Clark Gable, Ronald Reagan, Don Ameche, William Powell, Fred MacMurray, Claudette Colbert, Myrna Loy, and Barbara Stanwyck. The plays were hosted first by Antony.
Stanford in New York and Cecil B. DeMille in Hollywood.
