It was represented by Charles Lilley Horn, president and sole source of funding, and Olin Leonard Kaupanger, secretary.

The committee was involved in a broad range of conservation issues including wildlife management, forestry, water management, mining, and the operations of the Minnesota Department of Conservation and its Division of Game and Fish. Other subjects include water development projects, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of the Superior National Forest, taconite, and state environmental policy.

The committee corresponded with government officials, conservationists, newspaper editors, and sports writers, including John A. Blatnik, Paul Clement, Sigurd Olson, Henrik Shipstead, Harold E. Stassen, William L. Strunk, Edward J. Thye, and Chester S. Wilson.
