Abstract:

Jiro Kamata's necklaces and pendants are a great step away from jewelry in terms of size, materials used and technical development. They are instead far more contemporary gems that thrive on the technical perfection and reflections of light. Camera lenses have long been Jiro Kamata's passion. He breaks them down into their component parts and the they grow in a slow process into strictly conceived necklaces and brooches. Items of jewelry which capture the reflections of their surrounding environment in a unique way and thus in a certain way, become a depiction of them.
