Abstract:
Memoirs of a Jew born in 1927 in Strasbourg and brought up in Paris. In 1940 the family took refuge in Toulouse, and settled in a nearby village in 1942. In May 1944 Graf was arrested and deported to Auschwitz. He was assigned to slave labor first at the "Strassenbau" and then in a shoe-repair kommando. In January 1945 he was forced on a death march to Gross-Rosen and then to the Berga-Elster labor camp, a satellite of Buchenwald. After the liberation Graf returned to Toulouse, where he was reunited with his parents, who had gone into hiding after his arrest. His younger brother had fled to Palestine.
