Notes: Originally issued in 13 installments. Each of the work's four parts have separate title pages (dated 1835), pagination, and plate numbering. General preface is dated May 1, 1840.
A continuation of the author's "Atlas zu der Reise im nördlichen Afrika," published 1826-1828. See Ayer Library catalogue.
Original printed wrappers of individual installments have dates as follows: 1835 (Lieferung 1-4); 1836 (Lieferung 5-8); 1837 (Lieferung 9-11); 1838 (Lieferung 12); 1840 (Lieferung 13).
Plates are lithographs drawn by F.C. Vogel, and most are hand-colored.
Original printed wrappers of three installments indicate the following plates of fishes were not colored: plates 1, 6, 11, 13, 22, 26-27, 29-30, and 33. Other plates of fishes in addition to these may be found uncolored in some copies.
