Abstract:

The fascinating world of North American Mammals is presented here with 79 full-color action photographs and an accurate lively text. The nature photographs selected for this book are from the famous National Audubon Society Collection, and all of the mammals represented in these pages are native to the North American continent, ranging from the tiny pygmy shrew to the 150-ton blue whale. Some mammals spend their lives almost entirely underground, while others have adapted to life in trees and hardly every touch the ground. The mammals in this book have been grouped into Primitive Mammals, Rodents and Their Relatives, Hoofed Mammals, Predatory Mammals and Marine Mammals. There are also extensive captions, an index and suggested readings.
