Presents the prison diary of Claudio "Steve" Carano, a radioman in the U.S. military during World War II, who spent eighteen months in the legendary Stalag XVII B after his B-17 bomber was shot down over the Dutch coast in December 1943, and features contributions from Carano's comrades, including the story of his buddy Bill Blackmon, and the wartime log American POW John C. Bitzer.
