Abstract:

Nannini describes a period of growth and professionalism in the Office of the Secretary of State, 1948-1984. The interview also discusses notaries, the development of state election services, state budgets and personnel procedures, affirmative action, and the Political Reform Act of 1974, which changed the requirements for reporting campaign financing, both for candidates and lobbyists. He also discusses the administrative style of Secretaries of State Jordan, Sullivan, Brown, and Eu.
