Summary:	Le Papayer, Carica papaya L., est un petit arbre de la famille des Caricaceae originaire d'Amérique du Sud dont la moindre blessure conduit à une sécrétion de latex riche en divers enzymes : papaïne, chymopapaïne, chitinase, lipase... qui lui apportent des propriétés médicinales utilisées depuis de nombreuses années en médecine traditionnelle. Cette plante est aujourd'hui utilisée en homéopathie et en phytothérapie pour le traitement des troubles dyspeptiques et dans les régimes amincissants. Toutefois, c'est dans la chimionucléolyse, thérapeutique qui utilise la chymopapaïne dans le traitement des hernies discales, qu'elle trouve son application la plus originale. Des travaux ont actuellement lieu afin de confirmer les indications traditionnelles de cet arbre comme ses propriétés anti-helminthiques, anti-ulcéreuse et cicatrisante. Papaya, Carica papaya L., is a small tree which belongs to the Caricaceae family and is originated from South America. A small wound of this tree causes latex secretion which contains enzymes such as papaïn, chymopapaïne, chitinase, lipase... These enzymes are responsible for the medicinal properties of this tree. That is why this plant has been used for a long time in traditional medicine. Nowadays, papaya is used in homeopathy and phytotherapy to treat dispeptic disorders and to favour weightloss. This plant has an original utilisation : cheminucleolysis which uses chymopapaïne to treat discal vertebral diseases. Today some works are being led to demonstrate the traditional indications of this tree as, for example, its anthelmintic properties, anti-ulcer properties and its efficacy on wounds.  Read more...
