Significant exhibitions include the following: Hispanic Art in the United States: Thirty Contemporary Painters and Sculptors; Money Matters: A Critical Look at Bank Architecture; Rediscovering Pompeii; Great American Comics: 100 Years of Cartoon Art; Imperial Austria: Treasures of Art, Arms and Armor from the State of Styria; Jewels of the Romanovs: Treasures of the Russian Imperial Court.
The exhibitions declined files contain correspondence, memos and other information on exhibitions offered to the MFAH, which were declined, and less frequently, ideas for exhibitions that the MFAH considered but did not present. Loans requested of the MFAH and by the MFAH files contain information on individual works or groups of works, loaned by the MFAH, declined to loan by the MFAH, or requested by the MFAH of others.
