The Alice Dean was a steamboat that was captured by John Hunt Morgan on July 7, 1863 and was used to cross the Ohio River during Morgan's Ohio Raid. Abstract:

A piece of wood cut from the hull of the steamboat Alice Dean. The Alice Dean was a steamboat that was captured by John Hunt Morgan on July 7, 1863 and was used to cross the Ohio River during Morgan's Ohio Raid. After the crossing, it was burned and sunk near Brandenburg, Kentucky. The piece was cut by G.E. Shireman of Brandenburg (date unknown) who was said to also have found several dishes with the name Alice Dean fired in the glaze.
