Summary:	Les efforts consentis par les associations pour réaliser leur unité au-delà de leur diversité et s'ériger en secteur, se sont concrétises au début des années quatre-vingt. D'abord prises en considération pour leur rôle dans la cite, elles vont être reconnues comme des gestionnaires de services et d'emplois dont les résultats sur le marché du travail vont être évalues. Ceux-ci constituent l'aboutissement de longs processus qui recouvrent la prise en charge d'activités bénévoles par des salaries et engagent des associations à se transformer en entreprises. Ces mutations ne vont pas de soi. Elles sont opérées grâce à la spécificité des formes et conditions de travail et a la capacité des associations à prendre appui sur des ressources locales et personnelles qu'elles vont s'attacher à valoriser. Pour ce faire, elles doivent s'ouvrir à l'extérieur et trouver des financements prives et ou publics auprès d'interlocuteurs ayant chacun leurs exigences propres, rationaliser leur mode de fonctionnement et se stabiliser, étendre le cadre de leurs activités a un public anonyme. Mais dans la mesure où l'association professionnalisée ne renonce pas à ses objectifs initiaux, elle n'est jamais une entreprise ordinaire. The nonprofit organizations (NPO), in spite of their diversity, have tried to find a unity and become a "sector". This has been realized in the early eighties. At the beginning they were only considered for their civil and social role. Now, they are valued for their economic activities and for their ability to create job opportunities. A long time is required for the transformation of unpaid activities into salaried jobs, and of a NPO into a firm. Those changes are not obvious, but the NPO follow specific patterns of employment and of working time which help for their evolution. They have also an ability to use hidden, local and human resources that they know how to use in a flexible way. In order to realize this change, they have to find external resources (private and or public foundings), to rationalize their way of working, to lead permanent activities, and to extend their field to an anonymous audience... but professionalized NPO cannot be a regular firm as it doesn't renounce to its initial aims.  Read more...
