Abstract:

The punishment relates the ordeal, that of nineteen months of detention, during the reign of Hassan II, of ninety-four students punished for demonstrating peacefully in the streets of the big cities of Morocco in March 1965. Under cover of service These young men found themselves a few months later locked up in barracks and prisoners of ranks devoted to General Oufkir, who subjected them to vexation, humiliation, ill-treatment and dangerous military maneuvers under the most absurd pretexts. Until the preparation of a coup (that of Skhirat July 10, 1971) does not precipitate their release without explanation. The narrator of La punition is one of them. He tells the story of those long months that marked his twenty years, nourished his conscience and secretly gave birth to him as a writer.--Gallimard.
