The papers include information about Mississippi, St. Croix, and Missouri River improvements; Annapolis and West Point appointments; patronage; unemployment and welfare legislation; political campaigns; and a trip to Great Britain (1941) with other members of congress. Correspondents include John G. Alexander, Edward C. Gale, Michael J. Hoffman, Lou Hosking, John P. Lewis, Arthur D. Strong, and Tom W. von Kuster.
