The oldest known ancestor from Muhlenberg Co., Ky. is Eda Salsbury (b. 1811), who with David Salsbury and their children is found listed on the 1870 Muhlenberg County Census, Bogges Precinct, page 438. Eda and David and their family lived in what was to become the "Salsbury Free Negro Settlement", Kentucky, about three miles south- east of Greenville, Ky. They received the deed for this land in 1885.

Abstract:

The oldest known ancestor from Muhlenberg Co., Ky. is Eda Salsbury (b. 1811), who with David Salsbury and their children is found listed on the 1870 Muhlenberg County Census, Bogges Precinct, page 438. Eda and David and their family lived in what was to become the "Salsbury Free Negro Settlement", Kentucky, about three miles south- east of Greenville, Ky. They received the deed for this land in 1885.

Various spellings include: Saulsbury/Saulsberry/Salsbury, etc.
