"From the Grimm's collection Eckhard Froeschlin chose seven fairy tales of the tailor type, the hero usually being a thin and poor young man going out into the world to fight with giants, to betray the king and to get the princess at the end. Froeschlin's color etchings accompany the stories in the terse, amoral and hard stuffed version of the first edition from 1812 and 1815. The [later] editions softened [that is, sanitized] the stories and literally blew up the texts"--Provided by publisher.
