Abstract:

"This manual is a complete revision of the former Sight-singing manual. The material is organized to correlate more closely with basic principles of the techique of 18th and 19th century composition, as well as with more recent textbooks concerned with the development of musicianship...Two new sections have been added to provide a more complete and broad experience in sight-singing. A section dealing with chromaticism contains music using altered tones within a given key or altered tones to create chromatic modulation. The other section contains music of the 16th and 17th centuries. The music selected is of two kinds: that which is purely in the 16th century style and that which serves as a bridge between 16th century music and that of the 18th and 19th centuries..."--preface.
