In the midst of these divergent realities, these two musical cultures are direct descendants of a common ancestor. The southern Americana musical tradition, which emerged from the experience of poverty and working class struggle, serves as the cultural and aesthetic progenitor from which these genres and their associated cultural mores have derived."@en ;
schema:description "Introduction : outside looking in -- Folk roots to pop masses : an entangled history -- Money and media : radio; television; film representations -- Race and identity : homies and hillbillies -- Gender and relationships : women and femininity -- Semiotics and songs : visual and oral meanings -- Politics and power : left or right -- Religion and faith : Jesus walks or takes the wheel -- Conclusion : the American dream."@en ;
schema:exampleOfWork <http://worldcat.org/entity/work/id/2072714873> ;
schema:genre "Criticism, interpretation, etc."@en ;
schema:inLanguage "en" ;
schema:name "Soul, country, and the USA : race and identity in American music culture"@en ;
schema:productID "890107261" ;
schema:url <http://catdir.loc.gov/catdir/enhancements/fy1608/2014034347-t.html> ;
schema:workExample <http://worldcat.org/isbn/9781349478149> ;
schema:workExample <http://worldcat.org/isbn/9781137378095> ;
umbel:isLike <http://bnb.data.bl.uk/id/resource/GBB501024> ;
wdrs:describedby <http://www.worldcat.org/title/-/oclc/890107261> ;    .
