Abstract:
Cardinal Carafa was papal legate in France, and this volume includes many of his letters to Henri II, Catherine de Medici, Diane de Poitiers, the duc de Guise, and the constable de France. Includes also international material, such as the truce of 1556 between the Emperor and England, the peace concluded between the pope and Philip II of Spain after the Neapolitan war in 1557, instructions given to Fantuccio at the English court, etc. List of contents at end of volume.
