Abstract:

Pressac's introduction (p. 5-16) discusses how 87 Jews were selected at Auschwitz by Dr. Bruno Beger, gassed at the small concentration camp of Natzweiler-Struthof (near Strasbourg) in late August 1943, then sent to Prof. August Hirt at the Institute of Anatomy in Strasbourg. This documented episode provides concrete evidence of a gas chamber and of the use of the bodies of Jews for Nazi science. Pp. 17-27 contain documents in German and in English translation. Pp. 28-36 contain depositions related to the Military Tribunal in Strasbourg that conducted the Struthof trial. Pp. 37-88 contain photographs of views of the camp (including a photograph of camp commandant Josef Kramer), the gas chamber, the crematorium, German documents seized in the camp (including about the gas chamber), and corpses found toward the end of the war at the Institute of Anatomy.
