Abstract:
Coverage, 19 November 1961, of the Thanksgiving goodwill mission by former state Senator John J. Wicker (1893-1985) to Boston, on behalf of Governor J. Lindsay Almond, to visit Governor of Massachusetts John A. Volpe (1908-1994) and invite him to visit Virginia and attend a Thanksgiving celebration. Wicker discusses the "controversy" concerning where the first Thanksgiving was really celebrated, and offers proof that it was in Virginia. There is also a response to Wicker's assertions by Volpe. Also included is the musical piece "We Gather Together." Wicker is also interviewed prior to his trip, and discusses what he will be wearing.
