Abstract:
This account of the Antarctic expedition of 1898-1900 led by Carsten Borchgrevink in the ship 'Southern Cross' was written by the expedition physicist, Louis Bernacchi, and includes the location of the South Magnetic Pole and a summary of the scientific results. The group was the first to overwinter in the Antarctic. The expedition was known as the Antarctic Expedition 1898-1900 or the British Antarctic Expedition 1898-1900.
