Abstract:

The expression topology of being that appears in Heideggers work in1947, already points towards the author's increasing tendency to think his greatquestion the question of being in a quite different way from what prevailed inhis first works, especially Being and Time. Place and language, terms directlyingrained in the topology idea, take on a growing importance in his thought, bearing an essential connection to each other. However, the space concept, inseparable from that of place, has frequently been put aside in several studies ofthe heideggerian topology, in spite of its fundamental importance for the subject. This thesis aims, firstly, to accompany, in the ambit of Heideggers work, thedifferent elaborations the space and place concepts went through, rescuing thehighly significant role of the former. Finally, starting from an understanding of thenature of its reciprocal connection, to show that the space and topologicalconceptions in Heidegger concerns, ultimately, language itself.
