Abstract:

This documentary examines the toxins and chemicals that will be unleashed in a post-apocalyptic world. Cooling tanks in nuclear power plants will overheat, releasing radiation and creating dead zones for miles around. Deadly chlorine gas leaked from railway cars will turn lakes and rivers into acid. Methane from overflowing sewers will collect in New York City's MetLife Building, causing a massive explosion--but Grand Central Station will remain standing. Great Lakes cargo ships will plunge over Niagara Falls, while raccoons will take over homes, attracted by decomposing food. An abandoned town in America's heartland provides a glimpse into this dim future.
