Abstract:

"Fashion photographer Bert Stern follows the trail of Twiggy, the mini-model who has become the latest symbol of the Sixties. This program examines the Twiggy phenomenon and provides an inside look at the world of fashion modeling. Cameras show Twiggy working with photographers Stern, David McCabe and Otto Storch, and at home with her family in London, where she talks about her childhood and her rise to fashion stardom. Films also show the 'Mindustry' which has grown up around her, including Twiggy Enterprises. Discussing the stir Twiggy has caused are communications theorist Marshall McLuhan; fashion writer Eugenia Sheppard; John Fowles, author of The collector; and British fashion photographer David Bailey. Also interviewed: Justin de Villeneuve, Twiggy's manager and boy friend, and Ted 'The Monk' Adams, the model's bodyguard during her tour. Adams discusses Twiggy's U.S. tour ('a dream') and the early days of her career"--TV guide, June 23, 1967.
