Abstract:

Asking, in the letter dated May 2, if he would act as his proxy and present his paper and exhibit the birds to the Linnaean Society in his name as he is not well enough to attend; setting forth a plan for him in London and telling him where to find the birds; relating, in the letter dated May 16, his communication with Mr. Vigors for the exhibition of the birds at the Linnaean Society and possibly also at the Zoological Society; discussing the expenses involved; adding that he expects his book will likely have a slow sale but hopes that people in Newcastle will buy it even if not many Londoners will purchase it; expressing his hope that Adamson might see "Mr. Yarrell's Collection of Birds & Eggs - He is a most respectable man, & will receive you kindly, as he did me."
