Abstract:

Concerning his dissatisfaction with an illustration for his "little vampire tale in the December 'Tramp'" and his suggestion that Robertson work with him to illustrate his future writings for that magazine; his plans to send him more material for their "Nature book" (probably a reference to the collection of stories by Blackwood with illustrations by Robertson entitled Pan's garden : a volume of nature stories, published in 1912), with his comments and suggestions for illustrations ("Possibly you may see some bold, dark illustrations for it."); poor public reception of his recently published novel The human chord ("The H.C. seems to have fallen pretty flat on the whole--too monstrous for general consumption ... reviews have been very kind on the whole, and I have had some interesting and encouraging letters"); upcoming publication of pieces in "London" and "Tramp"; announcing the completion of the first half of his novel The Centaur and expanding on the book's principle themes, and his decision to put it aside at present to work on his Julius LeVallon.
