Abstract:

Traces the history of the Jews in Bad Segeberg and Neumünster (Schleswig-Holstein) from the 18th century. States that the towns were strongholds of antisemitism and of the Nazi Party even before 1933. Describes the elimination of Jews from the economy and from the schools after the Nazi takeover. Except for one Jew who survived thanks to an Aryan wife, all the other Jews had either died or left the towns for larger cities by 1939. Pp. 187-211 list Jews living in the two towns between 1929-45 and their fate. Pp. 221-263 contain the texts of documents, mostly in facsimile.
